Let me introduce myself…

I am Samuel Pickwick Esquire – star of Charles Dickens’ ‘The Pickwick Papers‘ – a retired (very successful ) business man, and the Founder and Chairman of The Pickwick Club. Bald and bespectacled, you may mock me as an unlikely hero, but nevertheless I deem myself a loyal and protective gentleman who is gallant towards the ladyfolk and an old romantic of disposition!

My hearty adventures and travels throughout the English Countryside proved a popular read in the 1820s – though it must be aforementioned, my frequenting of ale houses has indeed left me a little portly!

I and my three most famed Pickwickians have made many an arduous journey to frequent the old coaching Inns of England, returning with tales galore to report our findings to all our club members. Umpteen a scrape with impropriety on our travels has made for humorous and lively meetings and stories which have been divulged again and again with gusto.

So, let me welcome you into my home – Mr Pickwick’s – a beautiful and grand Georgian building which was first named after me some time ago and now returns to its history, complete with the original sign on the wall.

Come eat, drink, and be merry – share stories under my roof and let your own adventures and travels shine…
